Description
Lemon Balm – A herbaceous upright perennial that can grow from 12 to 24 inches tall. Best in cool weather. Plant lemon balm in full sun. It has a lemon scent, oval, toothed leaves that are heavily veined or quilted from 2 to 3 inches long and arranged opposite one another on four-sided stems.
Lemon Basil – Leaves are small to medium in size; the leaves are smooth, flat, and green, containing some veining
across the surface with lightly serrated edges. Has a crisp and succulent consistency with a sweet, citrus-forward aroma. Lemon basil is available yearround, with a peak season in the summer.
Peppermint – This plant can grow up to three feet tall and two feet wide at maturity, depending on growing conditions. The stems are usually red and smooth, though some cultivars have green, hairy stems, and the leaves are broad and oval with toothed margins and may be hairy.
Sage – A green leafy herb with a bushy growing habit. Its long stems reach over half a meter tall. It has a greyish-green color, fuzzy texture, and silvery bloom. Young leaves may have a purple tint. Sage is an excellent source of vitamin K and a source of fiber, calcium, iron, and manganese. Grows all year round.
Basil – Basil is easy to grow in warm, sunny conditions. Perennial-type. Basil grows upright in bushy clumps 15 to 30 inches tall and wide, depending on the variety.
Lavender – Lavender is a perennial woody shrub that grows 24 to 30 inches tall and wide. Lavender is resistant to both heat and cold; it does not grow well in humid, hot climates. (45 DAS)
Spearmint – Good source of vitamins, antioxidants, and vital nutrients. Its aroma is very similar to peppermint. It contains less menthol. It has a sweeter taste than peppermint. The leaves are around 5 centimeters to 9 centimeters long and 1.5 centimeters to 3 centimeters wide. The tips of the leaves are pointed, like spears.
Chamomile – Chamomile flowers are used to make tea. Chamomile tea has a fresh, clean flavor that is immediately soothing. It prefers to grow in full sun but will tolerate partial shade.
Sweet Basil – Sweet basil is a rich source of antioxidants and has anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.
Chives – Chives are a hardy cool-weather perennial, a relative of the onion. The tips of chive leaves have a mild onion flavor. Chives have slender, round, hollow grass-like leaves 6 to 10 inches long.
